After the tornadoes occurred in North Texas, it was evident that belongings and structures were no longer where they used to be. This is a good reminder to really make a home inventory a priority.

“According to a 2012 survey from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), more than half of Americans don’t have a home inventory of their possessions, putting them at risk for inadequate home insurance coverage, should severe weather strike.”

If you’re going to create one on paper, it’s important to keep a copy at a friend or relatives home and also in a safe deposit box. We recommend creating an online inventory that can be accessed at any point and time from any device. This eliminates the risk of losing it or it being destroyed during a storm.
